    17001 - Tae Kwon Do Beginner

    This program is designed to teach focus, concentration, muscle development, balance, and gross motor coordination within the context of Tae Kwon Do. Their training will also target behavior development, awareness of others, self-confidence and character development. Students in the beginner class do not belt test and a uniform is not required. This class is taught by a family with more than 40 years combined Tae Kwon Do experience along with several other instructors, each with a black belt ranking.

    17002 - Tae Kwon Do Intermediate

    Build upon skills learned in the previous class to increase knowledge and discipline of the sport. Develop strength with increasingly challenging calisthenics and aerobic Tae Kwon Do moves, balance in the form of focused kicking actions, coordination in the form of sparring drills, speed in the form of striking and kicking exercises, concentration in the form of pattern memorization, and focus in the form of eye-hand and eye-foot target exercises. Belt testing occurs at this level (except during the summer sessions). All tests are designed to allow instructors to evaluate the students based upon their individual abilities, encouraging students to excel to their personal best. Our class is taught by a family with more than 40 years combined Tae Kwon Do experience, each with a black belt ranking.

    Acquire advanced skills and continue to build upon current skills. This class is for the student who has successfully demonstrated skills and knowledge of the sport through completing belt testing, participating in the Intermediate and Beginner level classes, or through training under another program. Our class is taught by a family with more than 40 years combined Tae Kwon Do experience, each with a black belt ranking.

    17010 - Fencing

    Fencing is an exciting combat sport and an art form as well. An ancient symbol of power and glory, and a deeply personal individual form of expression, fencing is a sport that requires stamina and endurance. The object of fencing is to effectively score a set number of points on your opponent before he scores that number on you. Points are scored by getting touches on your opponent's body. It often involves using a long sword, and the weight of the sword can challenge the biceps, triceps, forearms, and shoulders, for a great workout. Our program is taught by a Level 1 coach with 20 years of experience in the sport including 12 years of coaching. All equipment will be provided and a $20 equipment fee has been included in the registration price to cover the costs of upkeep, repairs, and sanitization of all equipment.

    17011 - Competitive Fencing

    Pre-requisite: Participant must have completed Beginner Fencing or have prior fencing experience to enroll. The course will build upon skills and techniques learned in the Beginner class. All participants must pay an additional $20 equipment fee to the instructor on the first day of class for upkeep, replacement and sanitization of equipment.

    17021 - Tiny Tumblers

    A fun and social introduction to tumbling that preschoolers will enjoy. This class is designed for 3 year old children who are now ready to enjoy a class independent of a parent in an environment with other students and a teacher. This program will focus on listening and cooperative skills, motor movement/development as well as having a lot of fun on the gymnastics equipment.

    17022 - Preschool Tumbling

    For preschool-age children 4-5 years old who need more challenge, can follow directions, and are ready to work more independently. Children will learn skills to include forward/backward rolls, running/jumping, large muscle motor skills and balance skills all while further developing listening skills, socialization and cooperative skills.

    17023 - Youth Tumbling

    Program emphasis is on fun and safety. Each child will be instructed as to the proper technique and form used to correctly execute tumbling skills. Skills include balance, floor tumbling, spring board, and uneven bars. This program is strictly recreational and competitiveness is not emphasized in any way. No previous tumbling skills required.

    Learn the basics of volleyball to include serving, passing, setting and hitting along with some team play principles. Standard volleyballs will be used for this class. Knee pads are recommended. This class is taught by Kathleen Washington, who played at Rutgers University and went on to play professionally in France.

    17038 - Volleyball Conditioning

    This class is for any player 12 and up who is looking to stay on top of their game over break. This is also good for those who are wanting to take their game to the next level. Each class will focus on conditioning elements as well as skill. Classes are taught by former professional player Kathleen Washington.
    Note - Tuesday class will be at the main rec center, Thursday will be held at Rec West

    17043 - Sibling Sports

    This class is a win for families with multiple kids! Siblings ages 4-12 can take this class together! Each skill and drill are individually based so multiple age groups can work at their own pace during this class. Each 2-week session a different sport will be covered and introduced.

    17044 - Soccer "U"

    With the "U" standing for "us", Soccer "U" classes are a fun and positive introduction to soccer for our youngest players and their parents/guardians! Our age-appropriate curriculum engages youngsters with entertaining activities that promote motor skill development and cognitive ability.
    With an adult participating by their side, kids will have fun learning basic soccer skills like chasing, running, kicking and listening.
    Soccer "U" classes are 30 minutes long and meet once a week. Adult participation is required.

Historically known for hunting and combat, in more modern times it has become a competitive sport and recreational activity. This class will teach the safe and correct usage of equipment and develop beginning archery techniques. The instructor is a Class 4 Archery Coach and is one of the top 150 coaches in the nation! Bows, arrows, targets and guards will be provided. A $20 equipment fee for upkeep and repairs is included in the registration price.

    Join a team of other area archers and get competition ready!! Even if you are not competing but are experienced and want to be challenged and taught by one of the best, then come join the team. Participants in Flying Arrows must have archery experience and currently be, or willing to be, US Archery Members (find out more and sign up at USArchery.org). Our certified Class 4 instructor is one of the top 150 Archery Coaches in the nation and will work with students to refine skills and knowledge of the sport to get them ready for upcoming competitions or leagues. Team members are encouraged to use their own equipment pending approval of the instructor.
